Beaches Worth the Drive
We tested every beach on the island. These are the three you can't skip.
Blue Bay Beach
About fifteen minutes from Willemstad, near Sint Michiel, Blue Bay is a white sand beach lined with palm trees that's part of the Blue Bay Golf & Beach Resort, but it stays open to day visitors for an entrance fee. Sun loungers, a beach club and on-site restaurants set the scene, while a reef accessible right from shore makes this one of Curaçao's favorite beaches for family snorkeling.

At the tip of the southeastern peninsula of Willemstad, where Spanish Water meets the open sea, Caracasbaai is an unpretentious beach of coarse sand and pebbles where Curaçaoan families gather on weekends for a waterside barbecue. Nearby, Fort Beekenburg has watched over the bay's entrance since 1703, and a sunken tugboat draws snorkelers to Tugboat Beach.

On Curaçao's west coast, in the Banda Abou region, Cas Abao unrolls its ribbon of white sand facing the turquoise water that has earned it a reputation as one of Curaçao's most beautiful beaches. Sun loungers, umbrellas, showers and a beach bar-restaurant set the rhythm of the day, while the nearby reef invites you to snorkel. Access is by car, with an entrance fee per vehicle, for a break that's well worth lingering over.

Curaçao Sea Aquarium
At Bapor Kibra, right next to Mambo Beach, the Sea Aquarium Curaçao opens a window onto Caribbean marine life through an open-circuit system that continuously feeds the tanks with seawater. Sharks, turtles, rays, and tropical fish pass right in front of you, while the shows and dolphin encounters at the neighboring Dolphin Academy make this a family outing that mixes curiosity with genuine wonder.

Chichi Workshop, Serena's Art Factory
On the east side of the island, right next to the ostrich farm, a colorful garden hides the workshop where Chichis are born - those generous female figures that have become one of the symbols of Curaçao craftsmanship. Here you can see how the statues are made before sitting down yourself with brushes and acrylic paint to decorate your own Chichi, under the friendly eye of the artists at Serena's Art Factory.

Blue Room Cave
On Curaçao's west coast, near Boka Santa Cruz in Banda Abou, a small opening in the rock hides one of the island's most memorable experiences. You can reach it by swimming from the beach or on a boat trip, to discover a sea cave where sunlight, filtered through the submerged entrance, turns the interior a striking electric blue. A mask and snorkel are highly recommended to fully enjoy the show.

Hofi Cas Cora
At the heart of the old Cas Cora estate on Reigerweg, this organic farm transforms the art of brunch with an authentically local approach. The Eatery cultivates its own farm-to-table philosophy by serving exclusively what grows on site. On weekends, when local families come for brunch, the place reveals its true nature: a culinary laboratory where each dish reinvents the classics with the day's harvest.

Landhuis Daniel restaurant
Set in a 1711 plantation house on the road to Westpunt, this unlikely spot hidden among the arid vegetation is one of the island's finest culinary surprises. The shaded terrace in front of the plantation house provides the setting for an eclectic menu that blends French, Dutch, Caribbean and Asian cuisine. The Indonesian rijsttafel has become legendary here.

Why Is Willemstad So Colorful?
Cobalt blue, ochre yellow, coral pink: Willemstad's facades have become the symbol of Curaçao. Behind the postcard lies a story of a migraine-prone governor, according to legend, at least, and a historic center listed by UNESCO since 1997.

Located outside the hurricane belt, Curaçao is a year-round destination: constant sunshine, cooling trade winds, and warm water in every season. All that's left is to pick your moment - based on crowds, budget, and the events that shape the island's calendar.
